Mosquito Dunks:
The mosquito eggs are very hardy and manage to live under almost all conditions. When the water temperature is right, the eggs hatch and become mosquito larvae
which swim around eating and growing. In about a week they become full-grown mosquitoes and fly out of the water looking for someone to bite. Mosquito Dunks containing Bt israeliensis float on water and will keep on working for 30 days or longer and are completely biodegradable. While floating, they slowly release a natural mosquito-killing biocontrol agent, Bti (Bacillus thuringienis israelensis) at the waters surface. This agent gradually settles in the water where it is eaten by mosquito larvae growing there. Bti (Bacillus thuringienis israelensis) is a bacterial toxin that infects and kills mosquito and black fly larvae. It is safe and environmentally sound because it is highly selective, killing mosquitoes and black flies. Bti contains no poisonous chemicals and is completely harmless to other living things! When Bti is eaten by the mosquito larvae, it damages the gut cells, eventually entering the body cavity. Once this happens, the larvae die.

Each Dunk will effectively treat up to 100 square feet of surface water regardless of depth. They may also be broken in half to treat smaller areas. Directions
Use one Mosquito Dunk for up to 100 square feet of water surface, regardless of depth. They can be used whole or broken into portions and applied to containerized standing water found near the home such as animal watering troughs, bird baths, flower pots, roof gutters, and water gardens. To prevent them from being washed away, the Dunks can be anchored using a string tied through the center hole, or they can be staked in place.
Warning:
Hazards to Humans: Avoid contact with eyes or open wounds.
Environmental Hazards: Do not apply directly to treated, finished drinking water reservoirs or drinking water receptacles when the water is intended for human consumption.

Summit B.t.i. Briquets release a constant, low dose of B.t.i, so early instars may survive temporarily. However, continuous ingestion of the active ingredient produces a chronic infection which kills the larvae. So you will not observe pupae, and the adult mosquitoes will not emerge.
