Mattress care guidelines

Mattress care guidelines:

Congratulations on purchasing an OrganicPedic® by OMI handcrafted organic mattress! We have made every possible effort to make certain that the mattress you have purchased is of the highest caliber and will provide you with many years of quality sleep.

In order for you to fully enjoy your new mattress or set, we have provided the following care guidelines to help you best care for your new bed:

Sleep on it

Your OMI mattress was designed for specific activities, none of which involve jumping. Mattresses should not be used as trampolines or step stools. The intense concentration of weight caused by jumping or standing on your mattress can impact its integrity. Any damage caused by such activities will not be covered by your warranty.

Provide adequate support

Make sure to put your new mattress or set on a suitable bed frame. Bed frames allow air to flow freely beneath your mattress and/or foundation, discouraging mold and mildew from forming. We recommend the use of a metal or wood bed frame with our mattresses and sets. If using a platform bed frame, wooden slats should be a maximum of 3” apart. Full-, queen-, and king-size bed frames should have a center support to retain warranty coverage.

Keep it clean

Too many people trade in mattresses that are just a few years old because of surface stains and soiling. An OMI mattress is designed to last up to 20 years or even longer. By taking the proper measures to protect the fabric and fibers used in the construction of your mattress, you can make sure you get full use from it. Using a mattress pad and moisture protector can end up saving you thousands of dollars. OMI manufactures a complete line of organic top-of-bed items. Talk to your Authorized Retailer about the right products for you. Additionally, avoid exposing your mattress to water or damp conditions (such as long-term storage in a damp room without adequate heat or ventilation), as it will mold or mildew under these conditions.

Get a handle on it

The handles on your OMI mattress are designed to assist in turning and positioning it, not to support its entire weight. Transport your mattress on its side – it's easier to handle and less likely to damage the mattress. A natural rubber mattress is very flexible, and will be easier to transport if you leave it in the shipping box until you have reached the room where it is going to be used, with the foundation or bed frame ready to receive it. Innerspring mattresses should not be folded or bent, as this can damage the spring connections.

Rotate, rotate, rotate

The materials used in your mattress are designed to conform to your body's contours. Body impressions may form when the natural material conforms to your body. Settling of our padding materials is not a structural defect. To equalize body impressions that naturally occur on the mattress surface over time, occasionally flip your mattress and rotate it from head to foot.
